I have to apologize firstly. I had every intention of making this post a savoury one, but then life happened. I officially finished school this week (sob/hooray.) Leading up to our final day I was all, “I’m not gonna cry, I never cry.” Hahahahahaha! There I was, weeping like the big, soppy wuss I am! Then I had to face the awful tragedy of exams…hitting the books again. So all in all this week called for a dose of comfort food, and by comfort food I mean chia puddings.
Today I’m bringing you granola. If you have never made granola before (what have you been doing with your life?) it’s super easy so don’t sweat it. But before we get into it, let’s have a wee chat.
Well what a week I’ve had! I had my last school gala, my last mufti day and my last assembly EVER! On Wednesday it was my birthday, and my dear friends decided to kidnap, blindfold and drive me round in circles…(you could be forgiven for thinking this sounds like a stag night prank gone wrong ) they then led me to where they had set up a special picnic just for us.
This weekend was my party and we had a girl’s retreat at my house. Highlight was trying (and failing) to do pilates. I think our abs were pretty worked out if you know what I mean (I mean from the giggling…keep up!) Anyway, after one very hectic, traumatic and slightly melancholic week, I bring you Crunchy Sunshine Granola.
I am particularly joyful this week because…I only have 6 days left of school…FOREVER!!! (Can i get a hallelujah? Amen?) Now I’ve just got to get through exams (duh duh duuuuuuh.) I am also in high spirits because my birthday is this week so I have an excuse to make and eat cake (not that I need an excuse!) In other news, this week I’m bringing you a very rustic lil loaf.
Today I have Peanut butter and cocoa bliss balls for you. (Hip hooray for bliss balls!) Just so you know, the definition of bliss is: ‘supreme happiness, utter joy or contentment.’ Need i say more?
It is my last day of holidays today (sigh) and so i thought pancakes for breakfast would be fitting. However, these aren’t any ordinary pancakes, no sirree, these are healthy pancakes. WAIT! Before you roll your eyes and close the tab, hear me out. These pancakes are beautifully light and absolutely delicious!
I’m so excited to share my very first recipe with you. It was my Grandparents wedding anniversary yesterday so we had a little family gathering, and this cake was the perfect end to the meal. It tasted like Christmas had come early. And looked like Christmas had come early, thanks to the “fresh snowfall of icing sugar” (- to quote Nigella Lawson- inspirational Domestic Goddess and my secret BFF.) Speaking of Christmas…did you know there are only 77 days until Christmas! Holy moly that’s close! I’m so excited for the crackers, mince pies, tinsel, snow(i wish.) But at least I can finally play my Michael Buble CD again. Anyway, back to CAKE.
A big welcome to any readers out there!
So…since this is my very first post (ahh! exciting) I’d like to begin by telling you a bit about me and why I’m doing this. I’m passionate about food and sharing the amazing goodness real food offers. So I will be posting a mixture of delicious clean recipes as well as some sneaky treats. I strongly believe that food is not something that should be shoveled in, forced down or forgotten about (on a side note: Please tell me how do you ‘forget’ to eat breakfast? Pretty sure my stomach wouldn’t let me forget!) Food should be savored, appreciated and have love poured into it (getting a bit soppy now.)
Hello and welcome to my blog. I hope you find inspiration here!
