Do you know what’s freaking unbelievable? I’ve only got 7 weeks left at university. Eep how did that happen? I’m trying to soak it in and enjoy this time as much as possible but they’ve got us so gosh darn busy that, that is hard to do. It’s also shadowed by the ever-pressing reality that I’m gonna be out in the big, wide world soon and I have absolutely no clue what I’m gonna do with my life. I’m trying not to think about that but unfortunately by the time you are in your final semester you get asked every single day what you are planning on doing next year.
I’m not even exaggerating. Literally every day.
So please excuse me if I’m a little emotional over the next couple of months (more than usual of course.)
So here’s the thing. Today’s post was supposed to be a book review one. I’ve been writing book review posts all year but I’m kinda not feeling them anymore. I love books and I could talk about them ALL DAY LONG (try and stop me) but I know not everyone feels the same. If you loved the book reviews and don’t want them to stop then please let me know in the comments and I’ll keep them coming, otherwise I’m gonna drop them for now.
I only wanna be creating content that you genuinely love!
Anyway, I thought instead of a book review it would be kinda fun to share some things that I’ve been loving lately and yes it includes a book because I just can’t help myself. 😉

My favourite things this August:
I discovered this awesome NZ make-up brand when I was working at The Baby Show the other weekend. They are all natural lipsticks with the most gorgeous colours you have ever seen.
Because I bought them at a show, they had a guy there who was matching up the perfect colours for your skin tone which was awesome. I’ve always just gone in and blindly picked colours that I loved and when I’ve put them on I’ve discovered I look something like a angry clown. The colours he picked for me were orchid bloom and violet mousse.
They also smell amazing because they’ve got cinnamon in them which is kinda unusual but I dig it.
The only bad thing I have to say is that it doesn’t last as long as the heavy-duty stuff you can get with other brands but I suppose that’s because it’s not chock-full of who-even-knows-what chemicals.
Milk and Honey- Rupi Kaur
So when this book arrived, I read it in one sitting. I was glued to my chair and I could not move until I had read every last word. You guys know I’ve got a thing for poetry so it is probably no surprise that I fell in love with this book immediately.
I didn’t really know what to expect when I started reading it. I just had seen it everywhere and thought that maybe I should get in on the action too.
But let me tell you, this book is beautiful. It is gripping. It will move you (probably to tears.) It’s inspiring and empowering and it made me wanna jump up on the table a get all Dead Poet’s Society ya.
This book of poems tells a story of redemption and victory that I know all of you can relate to in some way, shape or form. We’ve all conquered rejection, hurt and disappointment. We all live to tell our story. I highly recommend you grab yourself a copy ASAP, you will not regret it.
Starbucks Chai tea latte
Okay so apparently I have been doing Starbucks wrong my entire life. Why, you ask? Because I’ve always stuck with a super simple order. Maybe occasionally I would splash out and get a shot of vanilla syrup, but I didn’t want to make things even more difficult for the poor, stressed-out baristas by making some tooty fruity OTT order.
Anyway, shoutout to Chasing Kaylight for sharing her favourite drink orders with me. I have decided to make it my mission to try them all by the end of the year. I started this week with the Chai tea latte with soy milk.
Oh my word guys, it is heaven in a cup. Stand aside vanilla lattes…there is a new favourite in town.
Revlon optimistic nail polish
One of my favourite things in the world is reading the names that nail polish colours are given. I don’t know who comes up with them all…but I want that job!
The latest colour to grace my toes is Revlon’s ‘optimistic.’ Isn’t that such a great name?
This is such a happy, bright colour…it’s got me all jazzed up for spring!
Lemon cheesecake candle
I bought this candle at a craft market way back at the start of the year and I kept it in a box to potentially give away as a present. Do you have a box like that too? Where you collect random stuff and then you’ve always got an emergency gift at hand for when you forget someone’s birthday (yikes!)
I fully intended on giving this candle away but it was sitting there taunting me, begging to be lit and I couldn’t resist any longer. I have no words to describe just how delicious it is.
I’ve had it out in the dining room in my flat and all the guys have been secretly enchanted by it.
I am totally biased but I love the company I work for (The Collective’s) greek yoghurt the best.
I had never tried greek yoghurt until a couple of weeks ago when we were sampling it at The Baby Show and I nabbed a few spoonfuls in between serving customers.
Oh my goodness it is incredible. I like my yoghurt as thick as possible and it doesn’t get thicker or creamier than greek yoghurt. I can’t go back to my regular cheapo yoghurt after trying it so R.I.P my bank balance.
Now tell me…
Book reviews, yay or nay?
